Little White Lies Research - Mark

Little White Lies is a magazine that is released every other month and costs £6 per issue or £29 for a years subscription. The magazine's main content are film reviews, but often there are articles on video games too.




This isn't just your normal magazine though. Throughout the magazine there are many hand drawings like the one above showing a cartoon of the film with relevant speech marks to what the characters are saying. It adds that effect that someone has taken a lot of time to produce this and the reader appreciates that.






Below is an example from the magazine of an article with annotations to show what the conventions of their normal article contains.






Also what I noticed was that the conventions of the magazine also continue onto their website. Above and below is their review on the film Flight, above in the magazine, below on the website. As you can see the screen grab of the film is at the top, you've got the ratings also there and even the drop cap is on the website. I feel this is good continuity that LWL have achieved.
